Dealing with Clients
Make changes to Clients
Clients play a crucial role within Containers. The purpose of the Containers is to categorise Clients into groups so that Jobs or Configurations can be assigned to them as required. This makes it all the more important that the Clients are mapped correctly, either dynamically or statically. The query results form the basis for the latter option. If you wish to store the Clients statically in a Container, proceed as follows:
Adding and Removing Static Clients
Select a Container to which you want to add new Clients by selecting it in the Console. First open the Clients tab in the right pane of the Details pane and then the Clients tab in the ribbon bar. Click on the Add button or the corresponding action in the right hand context menu. Select a Query from which you wish to obtain Clients and click Next >. On the following pages you can select all the Clients you wish to add to the Container. Select them and click Finish to complete your work.
Alternatively, you can manually drag the Clients into the Container from an already open Query.
If the statically stored Clients are to be removed from a Container, you must select the corresponding number of Clients and click on the Remove button. Confirm the security question and the Client will be deleted from the Container.
Statically Linking Dynamic Clients
To link dynamically assigned Clients to a Container on a permanent basis, regardless of how the Client's properties are changed, you can set the Client to a Static Assignment. To do this, select the required number of Clients in a Dynamic Container and click the Link Statically button in the ribbon bar or context menu. The Clients are immediately Statically Linked and are indicated as such in the right hand display as „Statically Linked“ (). Refresh the view in the Console.
If you want to undo this, you will need to delete the Client. If the Container's filters still apply to the Client, it will be reconnected after the Container has been recalculated.
Updating Clients (Dynamic and Static)
If you have previously reassigned or deleted Clients, or changed the data, the Clients view may be incorrect. You will need to refresh the view. To do this, click on the Clients in the Detail View and then on Recalc Shortcuts in the ribbon bar. This will synchronise the current view with the database and reload it. The ACMP Server also does this regularly via a scheduled Server task. Then refresh the Console to see the results of the recalculation.
Find Containers of the Clients
If you want to know which Containers contain a particular Client, you can find them specifically. To do this, right-click on the selected Client in the Clients tab and select Find by Client Containers. This will open a continuous search bar on the left hand side of the main window, which in this case already contains the name of the selected Client (Client1). You will also find the contents of the Container Name drop down menu at the bottom, which further refines the search criteria.
The Filter option allows you to quickly find selected Clients in your Containers in large environments.
